J.B. Filz — Digital Presence for a Viennese Institution
Founded in 1809 at the Graben, Parfümerie J.B. Filz is one of Vienna's oldest and most storied perfumeries — holder of the imperial k.u.k. court appointment, beloved by Empress Sisi, and still family-run after eight generations. The brief: bring a 200-year-old legacy online without losing a single note of what makes it irreplaceable.
After more than two centuries at the heart of Vienna, the eighth generation of the Filz family was ready to reach a new audience — without abandoning the character that has defined the house since Anton Filz first opened his doors in 1809. The challenge wasn't modernisation for its own sake. It was finding a digital language worthy of the history behind it.
The project involved developing a full online presence: translating the rich visual and narrative identity of J.B. Filz into a web experience that feels as considered as the perfumery itself. The design draws on the house's layered heritage — imperial elegance, Viennese charm, the quiet confidence of something that has outlasted trends by simply being exceptional.
Alongside the main site, the project introduced a digital touchpoint for the perfumery's signature scent tasting experience, developed in partnership with Wien Mal Anders — a natural extension of a house that has always been as much about storytelling as it is about fragrance.
Old roots, new reach. The scent of eight generations, finally online.
