AUVA — Workplace Safety Animations

Safety at work doesn't have to be boring. For this diploma project, our team developed a series of animated clips for the AUVA — Austria's statutory accident insurance — designed to communicate the importance of personal protective equipment in a way that actually sticks. Humorous, visually driven, and built for a young audience, the clips were conceived, illustrated, and animated entirely in-house: from the first sketches to the final frame.
The project kicked off in team workshops where we mapped out narratives, refined the core message, and translated ideas into storyboards — drawn both by hand and digitally in Procreate. From there, all characters and scenes were illustrated in Adobe Illustrator, built with animation in mind: clean shapes, clear silhouettes, and a style that reads instantly without relying on sound.
In Adobe After Effects, the illustrations were brought to life through keyframe animation and character rigging — keeping the motion expressive but controlled, and the storytelling legible at a glance. Throughout the process, close collaboration with the AUVA ensured that every clip met the technical and factual standards required for official use.
The final animations were designed to work across formats — vertical for social media, horizontal for digital displays in vocational schools — and to remain fully understandable without audio. The result is a set of clips that balance visual charm with real communicative impact: safety content that a young audience might actually watch twice.
